“The entire prosecution is misplaced” Dotcom legal team

For more than a month, a judge has been hearing arguments about whether Kim Dotcom and his co-accused should be sent to the United States to face criminal charges over their part in the running of file sharing website Megaupload. Kim Dotcom’s lawyer, Ron Mansfield, on Tuesday told the Auckland District Court the US had worryingly emitted important legal facts from its own jurisdiction to make it look like a prosecution was possible there. He said it was also clear the extradition treaty between New Zealand and the United States was not intended to cover copyright.
