Amnesty International hand delivers new report to Australian Consulate in Auckland

Amnesty International supporters gathered this morning outside the Australian Consulate in Auckland to handover the INGO’s latest report. Amnesty’s report - By Hook or by Crook, Australia’s Abuse of Asylum-Seekers at Sea - claims that the Australian government has been involved in a transnational crime that is people smuggling, paying people smugglers and also that it has itself endangered people’s lives at sea. “The Australian government has been gambling with people’s lives,” says Amnesty International CEO Grant Bayldon. After a first failed attempt, Grant Bayldon was allowed inside the building to hand over the report to the consulate.
