Paid Parental Leave Bill laid to rest

Labour reluctantly supporting urgent bill

Justice Minister Amy Adams is expected to introduce a bill to parliament under urgency on Tuesday that will allow them to be supervised in the same way as if they had served their sentences in New Zealand. Labour will reluctantly support the bill. "The government has handled this so badly - a situation they knew about a year ago is now upon us, they've got a planeload of about 20 deportees ready to come out of Australia and they've now introduced legislation to deal with it," Labour leader Andrew Little told reporters.
