A white cat appeared to refuse to leave a man’s grave as he was laid to rest in Malaysia.

In a video posted by Souffan CZ to Facebook on Sunday, the mystery feline can be seen pawing persistently at the grave of Souffan’s grandfather, whose funeral he was attending.

He said his grandfather, Ismail Mat, was a “man who loved cats”.

The video, which has over seven million views, shows Souffan’s cousins and aunts attempting to gently drag the cat off the grave, but it keeps returning.

“This white cat is actually not a pet cat, but it's probably a hometown cat near the mosque,” Souffan wrote on Facebook [translated].

“The presence of this cat is interesting to our family, because the cat wouldn’t leave the grave when we wanted to go home.

“Last time we were all gone, the cat went back to the grave. Got info from the villagers, (they) said the cat was always wandering around the mosque…”
