© Gary A. Vasquez / USA TODAY Sports The upcoming superfight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor was bound to generate a ton of betting attention, but one person decided to lay down the gauntlet for everyone else.

On Friday, an anonymous bettor reportedly placed an $880,000 wager on Mayweather to win, according to David Purdum of ESPN.

The bet at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas was so large that the potential winnings surpassed the $1-million maximum payout allowed by the casino's booking system, so the bet had to be reworked into two separate $440,000 tickets.

Mayweather was listed as a -550 favorite at the time of the purchase, so that margin would lead to a profit of $160,000, making the total payout $1.04 million.

McGregor still remains the betting favorite, as the Irishman has had 27 bets placed on him for every one on Mayweather, according to MGM sportsbook assistant manager Jeff Stoneback.
