New Zealand sprinter Joseph Millar's smashed his personal best at the Continental Cup, just not in the sport he's renowned for.

Competing for the Asia-Pacific team in Ostrava, Czech Republic, the 200 metre specialist decided to step in and throw the discus with no-one else signed up to represent the region.

Participation earns more points for the team.

It all went pretty well for Millar, improving with every throw as he eventually ended with a new personal best of 27.15 metres.
