Pennsylvania Barbershop Encourages Kids to Read Aloud While Getting Haircut

A barbershop in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, is helping kids build their confidence and encouraging them to read with their program ‘Books by Kids.’ City Cuts Barbershop started ‘Books by Kids’ as a way to help children avoid a fear of public speaking. The shop pays their customers three dollars to read stories aloud while barbers work on their haircut. “Our goal is for kids to build their confidence up by reading in front of others while getting a haircut. Plus they will receive $3 for reading while in the chair. About 75% of Adults fear Public Speaking," the post said. As of writing, the video has over 13 million views on Facebook.
