The Israeli tennis fans Nick Kyrgios allegedly told to ‘shut the f*** up’ insist they did nothing to provoke the volatile Australian.

Kyrgios took umbrage with four supporters during his round-of-16 clash against Dudi Sela in the Mexico Open on Wednesday (AEDT).

Their crime was cheering for Sela, who took the opening set 6-3.

The controversial Aussie bounced back to take the match 3-6 6-3 6-3, but his comeback was overshadowed by the abuse of 19-year-old supporter Isaac Cherem and his three mates.

"It wasn't like we were talking in the points or when Kyrgios was serving; it was only cheering in between the points," Cherem told Fairfax Media.

"We were maybe three metres away from him, if we whispered, he could hear us.

"(My friend) whispered and then Kyrgios said shut the f*** up."

Cherem added of his brush with the world number 17: "At first we were a little bit scared because he's a big dude," Cherem said.

"… I'm offended. He's a really, really good player, but he just doesn't have the head for the game."

To make matters worse, Kyrgios mockingly clapped in the fans’ direction after winning the match, sparking an argument with Sela that had to be broken up by officials.
