Arsenal have had a £50m (NZ$87,910,556) bid for Torino striker Andrea Belotti turned down, according to the Serie A club's sporting director.

Reports in England on Thursday suggested the Gunners were keen on landing the Italy international, who has scored 13 league goals for Torino so far this season, and had been quoted £50m.

And Torino's sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has since claimed to Sky Italy that they have received an offer of that value from Arsenal.

However, Petrachi insists Belotti - who recently signed a new contract which includes a €100m release clause - is “worth more” than Arsenal's offer and therefore Torino have subsequently rejected it.

“Yes, we received the offer, but it does not reflect the value of the player,” Petrachi said.

“Anyway, he is going nowhere for now. We want to enjoy him, then we’ll see what happens.

“We intend to keep Belotti and President Urbano Cairo signed this important buy-out clause. I think he’s worth more than they have offered.”

Only Inter's Mauro Icardi (14) has found the back of the net more times than Belotti, 23, in Serie A so far this term.
