The sprinting superstar was slow out of the blocks, almost stumbling, putting him at the back of the pack.

However, Bolt recovered to breeze past the high class field to stop the clocks at 9.88 seconds in Kingston. Nickel Ashmeade finished second in 9.94 seconds, with Yohan Blake third and Asafa Powell fourth.

Only Jimmy Vicaut of France with his 9.86 has gone quicker this year.

"I'm happy I got a season was not a perfect race but I won," the 29-year-old said after the race.

"I was trying to control the start but it's just one of those things. It comes, it goes.

"I think I dragged my foot too hard so it kind of propelled me forward and then I just tried to correct myself, not try to panic and just make my way through.

"The more I run, the smoother my running will become and the faster I'll get."

Next up for Bolt is the Jamaican Olympic trials, which start on June 30.
