Anthony Mundine’s camp and broadcaster Fox Sports remain at loggerheads over the controversial fighter’s planned anthem protest on Friday night.

The indigenous boxer and former NRL star announced on Sunday he will protest the national anthem in his rematch against bitter rival Danny Green.

Mundine told the media he will stay seated during the ‘racist anthem’ to be sung by indigenous star Jessica Mauboy.

But according to News Limited, Mundine’s manager Khoder Nasser wants his client to take his anthem boycott a step further.

“I’ve spoken to Khoder Nasser and he doesn’t want Anthony in the ring when the anthem is performed,” Fox Sports’ Steve Crawley told the Daily Telegraph.

“… We’ll continue to talk over the next few days but the way I figure it is, if you go to an NRL or AFL grand final, the athletes are on the field when the anthem is performed ... I can’t see why we won’t do it while both fighters are in the ring.”
