Calls for cold call ban after intellectually disabled man sold insurance

September 11, 2018. Grant Stewart, the father of an intellectually disabled man who was sold insurance over the phone by Freedom Insurance speaks to media in Melbourne after giving evidence to the banking royal commission. Stewart says he was annoyed that his son felt guilty after being pressured into the insurance without understanding what he was buying. Consumer Action Law Centre senior solicitor Philippa Heir says she thinks the evidence shows the need to ban all unsolicited sales of financial products. Stewart's youngest son, then 26, was signed up for accidental death and injury insurance plus funeral cover during an 18-minute phone call in June 2016. (AAP VIDEO/Andrew Leeson)
