According to Rugbyrama, World Player of the Year for 2005, 2012 and 2015 Carter makes NZD$2.8 million (€1.5 million) a year, more than double the amount of second-placed Matt Giteau of Toulon who earns  €700,000 annually.

Slimani is the highest-paid French player while €500,000 earners Thierry Dusautoir (Toulouse), Mathieu Bastareaud (Toulon), Luc Ducalcon (Racing 92) and Yacouba Camara (Toulouse) are the other top local earners.

Meanwhile, according to Stuff, Carter has been asked by the Barbarians to turn out for them against England on May 28.
