Conor McGregor has dropped the biggest hint yet that his super fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr could be edging close to being finalised.

The UFC superstar is adamant he would destroy the undefeated 'Money' Mayweather - even in a boxing ring.

The meeting of the sports has attracted huge attention from fight fans and the Irishman has hinted that a deal could be close by sharing footage of him involved in a boxing spar.

McGregor is a specialist at striking in MMA, as demonstrated by his demolition of Eddie Alvarez last November.

Connecting with the slippery Mayweather Jr would prove to be a vastly more difficult proposition, though intrigue and the potential to generate hundreds of millions could prove too tempting for both fighters.

Mayweather last fought against Andre Berto in 2015, defeating the American in a one-sided affair before retiring from the sport with a record of 49-0.

The probability of the pair meeting continues to become more likely given the public demand, despite the consensus that McGregor would be overmatched and with McGregor sharpening his boxing skills, a deal could be imminent.
