Winning the World T20 enabled the West Indies to silence their critics. Man-of-the-match Marlon Samuels, whose unbeaten knock of 85 kept them in the hunt, dedicated the win to Shane Warne.

The leg-spinner had been criticising Samuels since the Big Bash League, and at the presentation ceremony on Sunday, Samuels parted by saying, “This is for Shane Warne.”

Not just him, skipper Darren Sammy didn’t hold anything back, either. After giving credit to the new manager and support staff, Sammy gave it back to those who had been criticising the team.

While ending the post-match interview, Sammy said he was extremely disappointed with the West Indies Cricket Board.

“People were wondering if we would play this tournament, we had issues with the board, Mark Nicholas called us players with no brains. But all of us came together; these 15 men put adversity aside, played this type of cricket in front of such passionate fans. It was tremendous. I want to thank the coaching team and Phil Simmons. We had a new manager in this tournament who took pains and got us our kits, and I am extremely disappointed with the WICB,” said Sammy before joining the celebrations.
