Australian golfer Jarrod Lyle has confirmed he has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time.

The popular 35-year-old was admitted to Royal Melbourne Hospital earlier this week after a routine blood test revealed ‘abnormal results’.

A defiant Lyle confirmed the diagnosis on Wednesday with a message on social media.

“Sadly it's all 100% true - another cancer diagnosis,” he posted on Facebook, accompanied by a photo from his hospital bed.

“I'm determined to be positive through this (as much as I can) so here is my last moment before the chemo is hooked up.

“Could be one of my last pics with a 'full' head of hair! #f**kcancer”.

The Victorian Lyle was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 1999 at the age of 17.

After beating the disease, Lyle found his way back to the course, claiming two professional wins in 2008, before again beating cancer following a 2012 relapse.

He played on the PGA Tour from 2014-16 before losing his card.

The Victorian has two young daughters to his wife Briony.
