Despite currently being stuck in a career-worst losing streak after losing the UFC bantamweight title and a subsequent comeback fight in 2016, Holly Holm has a chance to make history on Saturday night.

Against Germaine De Randamie, "The Preacher's Daughter" will compete for the inaugural women's featherweight title in the main event of UFC 208 and may become the first female fighter - the fourth fighter overall - to become champion in two different weight classes in the UFC .

And these achievements are what that motivates the former multiple-division champion in boxing to overcome the struggles of two consecutive setbacks and make the best out of the situation.

In an interview with FOX Sports, Holm stated that she is in fact inspired above average with the possibility of making history in MMA right in front of her. Holm made it a point to emphasize that she doesn't want to be remembered only as the one who ended an era in women's MMA by knocking out Ronda Rousey.

And, in fact, it might be difficult for Holm to find a better opportunity to broaden her legacy than the one she will get in Brooklyn, New York come Saturday.

“I don’t want my whole career to be defined around getting the belt from Ronda,” Holm clarified.  “I want my career to be defined by me being the best fighter I can be and accomplishing the biggest things I can, from whatever competition comes in front of me."

“Who doesn’t want that? Who doesn’t want to have the chance to make history and it give that extra motivation for it. It’s one of these things, how can you not get excited preparing for something like that?"

A former UFC bantamweight champion, Holm won the title by knocking out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 November of 2015. At age 35, the American owns a career record of ten wins with two defeats.
