Jason Taylor has responded to the scathing comments Robbie Farah levelled at him after the hooker’s standout performance in reserve grade this weekend.

Farah criticised the Tigers coach after being dropped to the Intrust Super Premiership, saying he couldn’t do anything right in Taylor’s eyes and questioning the argument that the side plays better without him.

Speaking after the Tigers defeated the Dragons 25-12 at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, Taylor wasn’t happy with Farah’s comments.

“I listened carefully to those and I just think on the back of what was an emotional week and an emotional game for Robbie, to be honest I would prefer they weren’t said publicly,” he said.

“I don’t have a public comment about it. It’ll be something that we deal with this week in house. I think that’s where it should remain.”

Taylor credited Farah for playing well in the Tigers’ 42-24 ISP win over Newtown, but stood behind the decision to drop the Origin hooker.

“We’re clear on a decision around performance and it’s a clear decision that I’m comfortable with and that I’m confident is the right one,” he said.

“That’s the biggest thing.

“I’m just concentrating on this game and the result on the scoreboard and I’ve tried to work hard at saying that over the last few days.

“I don’t think it’s about vindication, it’s about the direction that I want the team to keep moving toward.

“Robbie had a good performance yesterday in a team that performed really strongly. We had some good strong players playing back there so it’s good for our depth.”
