LA Galaxy are offering to make Zlatan Ibrahimovic the highest paid player in Major League Soccer history if he agrees to join them from Manchester United in the summer.

Ibrahimovic joined the Red Devils last summer on a one-year contract.

His deal at United has an option allowing him to extend and Jose Mourinho is said to be keen to keep the Swede, but the 35-year-old has not yet agreed on anything.

Ibrahimovic has been a big hit at Old Trafford, scoring 26 goals in all competition for United this season.

Ibra is preparing to serve a three-match ban after accepting an FA charge of violent conduct for an elbow on defender Tyrone Mings during United’s game against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Orlando City’s Brazilian midfielder Kaka is currently the highest paid player in MLS, with an annual salary of £5.89 million.

Galaxy officials believe that Ibrahimovic’s arrival could have a similar impact on the game in the US as David Beckham’s arrival in 2007.

Club management believe they stand a good chance of obtaining the services of the veteran striker, although United are also keen for Ibrahimovic to stay.

United boss Jose Mourinho recently said that while he was not willing to beg the Swedish superstar to stay at Old Trafford, United fans would probably camp in the striker's garden in order to persuade him.
