Lolohea set to leave Warriors if Foran plays five-eighth

Tuimoala Lolohea’s agent, Stan Martin, says the young Warriors talent was promised a spot at five-eighth by former coach Andrew McFadden and is seriously considering leaving New Zealand if the Kieran Foran deal comes through.

Lolohea, one of the brightest talents going around across the ditch, was used as more of a utility by McFadden, slotting in at fullback, wing, centre, five-eighth and off the bench.

The coach, who was axed following the 2016 season, had apparently told Lolohea he would slot into five-eighth with the departure of Thomas Leuluai.

A spanner was thrown into the works when Foran signed a one-year deal which would see Lolohea once again without a certain position in a starting side.

Foran’s contract hasn’t been signed off by the NRL yet, but Martin told the Daily Telegraph"if Kieran comes and Kieran goes to five-eighth, Tui will certainly not be here.

“He doesn’t want to leave and until the Foran situation is sorted out there is nothing I can do.

“It depends on Kieran, it really does. Tui wants to stay, he doesn’t want to go.

“But at the end of the day if pathways get closed he also knows that he has got a talent and he can go and ply his trade somewhere else.

“(Newly appointed coach)Steve Kearney was the first one to ring him to be totally honest when the announcement was made that Kieran Foran was coming to the club.”
