© Sporting News The Newcastle Knights will pay their respects to Hannah Rye in their clash against the Raiders on Friday night.

Newcastle will wear black armbands in round 25 following Hannah's passing.

Hannah lost her battle with the rare form of cancer, Ewing Sarcoma, this week.

She made headlines earlier this year when Knights player Trent Hodkinson partnered her to her formal.

The heart-warming story received national attention as she made her way into our hearts.

Newcastle and the rest of the NRL community were devastated when learning of her passing.

"The Newcastle Knights are saddened by the loss of Hannah Rye this week," the club said in a statement.

"The club has offered support to Hannah's family and will continue to do so. The club will also continue to respect the family's privacy at this difficult time.

"Trent Hodkinson and the team will be wearing black armbands as a mark of respect when the Knights take on the Canberra Raiders this Friday night."
