Sam Thaiday has been dumped from his ambassadorial role with the Deadly Choices Program after his offensive comments on the Footy Show last week.

Thaiday made the comments in the show's Player Probe segment when asked about his first crush.

"I reckon Halle Berry was my first," he said.

"That's when I went through my Jungle Fever phase - liking dark girls there for a little while.

"But then I figured it out, if it ain't white, it ain't right."

The Broncos forward apologised for the comments via social media over the weekend, but was still dumped by Deadly Choices.

"Sam Thaiday is no longer and Ambassador for the Deadly Choices Program," the organisation said in a statement on Sunday.

"As stated yesterday, Sam's comments on the Footy Show earlier this week were offensive and inconsistent with his role as an Ambassador for the Program."
