Daley left some of his options open on Monday, announcing an extended 19-man squad for the series opener at the Olympic stadium on June 1.

The coach's decision means last year's pairing of the Roosters' Mitchell Pearce and the Bulldogs' Trent Hodkinson miss out on a halves spot.

In addition to Reynolds and Maloney, Daley has also brought in debutants Tyson Frizell (Dragons), Josh Mansour and Matt Moylan (Panthers) and Dylan Walker (Sea Eagles) as well as development player Bryce Cartwright.

"I think at the moment there are a couple of guys in doubt so we wanted to make sure we have all our bases covered," Daley said.

"We don't have to name a team until later in the week so [we will] continue to keep everyone guessing."

Queensland will name its squad for Origin I on Tuesday.

The Maroons are chasing a second successive series win in 2016, after last year's 2-1 victory.

NSW has won only one of the last 10 series - in 2014 - when the Blues finally stopped a run of eight Maroons victories.

More to come.
