Wellington Phoenix's home game against Melbourne Victory that was postponed due to earthquakes in New Zealand last month will be held on Tuesday, January 17.

The match was postponed after the Phoenix's home ground Westpac Stadium was damaged by an earthquake that hit the Wellington region on November 14.

The Phoenix versus Victory had been originally scheduled for five days after the earthquake.

January 17 was the earliest possible midweek date for the rescheduled match due to resurfacing at Westpac Stadium that is due this month.

Wellington's next two games will be held in Hamilton and Auckland due to that work.

"We felt it was very important to keep the rescheduled fixture against Melbourne Victory in Wellington," Phoenix general manager David Dome said in a statement.

"Phoenix fans will now have the opportunity to watch four home games in Wellington in January, three of which will be back-to-back and during the school holiday period."

Head of A-League Greg O'Rourke added: "Our aim is to play the match as soon as we can in order to restore the balance of the fixtures amongst all of the clubs on the ladder. Having taken into account a number of factors and after discussion with both clubs and the broadcasters, this is the first available midweek date available."

Victory will play Brisbane Roar in Melbourne on the Friday before flying to Wellington and then have a three-day break before a trip to Western Australia to face Perth Glory on January 21.

The rescheduled fixture will be the second of three consecutive home games for the Phoenix, who will play Central Coast Mariners, Victory and Brisbane Roar in Wellington in the space of eight days.

In Round 4, Victory crushed Wellington 6-1 at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium.
