New Zealand Warriors captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will undergo surgery for his injured left knee on Friday.

The 25-year-old was helped from the field during the first-half of the Warriors 27-12 loss to the Penrith Panthers, in the NRL elimination final, last Saturday night.

Tuivasa-Sheck has been diagnosed with a medial ligament and meniscal injury.

The club haven't given an estimated recovery time, although the standard timeline for such an injury can be anywhere from four-to-eight weeks, meaning the fullbacks participation in the upcoming Kiwis international window is in doubt.

New Zealand hosts the Kangaroos on October 13, before heading abroad to take on England in a three-test series.
