Discovery of World War II Bomb Shuts Down Rome Airport

An unexploded Second World War bomb was discovered during maintenance work at Rome Ciampino Airport on February 7, prompting a shutdown of the airport. Flights to and from the airport were delayed or diverted to the nearby Fiumicino Airport. The Italian Army and Air Force responded to remove the bomb, the Italian Ministry of Defense said. Footage here was released by the Ministry of Defense and shows soldiers working on defusing the explosives. Credit: Ministero Difesa via Storyful
