Blind Woman, Service Dog Booted From Flight

According to WLBZ 2, Sue Martin and her husband were set to fly from Washington, D.C. to Dallas when she asked to be moved to a different seat capable of accommodating her seeing eye dog, Quan.

"There was not enough room for a 75-pound dog and three adult humans," Martin told WLBZ 2.

After making several requests for a seat change, Martin said she and Quan were asked to exit the plane.

"The man said, 'you have to leave the plane.' I asked him why and he said the crew had decided I was a danger to the flight," said Martin. "I've never had anything happen like this before."

The trio was then forced to book a new flight with a different airline at a different airport.

American Airlines confirmed that it's investigating the incident after Martin filed at least three separate complaints.

"We take all disability complaints very seriously, and are thoroughly investigating these allegations," a spokesperson for the carrier told WLBZ 2.

Martin said the incident left her in tears and feeling terrified. "This is just so far out of the realm of anything I have ever experienced in all my years of travel."

Last month, an unidentified woman claimed she was removed from a Spirit Airlines flight bound for Fort Lauderdale, Florida, because of exposed cleavage. However, the airline denied those allegations, saying the woman was removed because of her behavior.

More recently, Dallas Cowboys star Tyrone Crawford was booted from a Canada-bound American Airlines flight after calling an employee a "bum" and refusing to move out of the way when asked to check his carry-on bag. Crawford later took to social media to point out that American is still his favorite airline.
