50 rhino horns worth $12m seized at airport

Malaysian officials have announced that 50 rhinoceros horns as well as other assorted animal carcasses worth an estimated US$12 million were seized on August 13 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.The horns are believed to have been smuggled from Africa and were en route to Hanoi, Vietnam, making a transit stop in Malaysia, Channel NewsAsia reported.The horns were found in a shipment at the airport’s cargo terminal that also contained carcasses of animals believed to be tigers and bears.This footage, taken by animal trafficking watchdog Traffic.org, shows a glimpse of the horns.
