March of the Penguins: Group of Chinstraps Arrive on Antarctic Beach

Manel Gazo, an associate professor in the Department of Animal Biology at the University of Barcelona, recorded a raft of penguins rushing an Antarctic shore on March 8. Gazo was working there at the time as part of a university project known as Flexseal, dedicated to protecting the southern population of Antarctic fur seal. Manel told Storyful these were chinstrap penguins (Pygoscelis antarcticus), which are common to Antarctica. Credit: Manel Gazo via Storyful
