Protesters set fires in Caen

Demonstrators in Caen, France, set fires, destroyed tram stops and other property, and clashed with police on Saturday, January 5, according to reports. Police and firefighters responded as protesters burned pallets and erected barricades along a tramway next to Rue de Saint Pierre. Footage shows a series of fires burning as police sought to disperse protesters using tear gas. The protests, part of an eighth weekend of action by France’s Yellow Vest movement, also forced the closure of the city’s open air market, according to a statement. Credit: Arthur Massot via Storyful
