Two men who were allegedly running a home drug laboratory have been arrested in Alice Springs.

Last Wednesday, July 27, Border Force and the Australian Federal Police intercepted postal packages from China sent to Alice Springs, one containing a large quantity of glassware and drug manufacturing equipment and the other containing drug chemicals.

On Wednesday this week, police raided an Alice Springs home, finding a clandestine drug laboratory, allegedly containing a large amount of chemicals and equipment, believed to be used in manufacturing of Methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA, a psychedelic drug similar to ecstasy).

Police believe there were enough chemicals on site to make up to three kilograms of MDA.

Two men aged 30 and 35 were arrested and charged with several drug possession, supply and manufacture offences.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on Thursday.
