It's no secret Taylor Swift and Katy Perry really don't like each other.

But if there was any ever doubt, US talk show host Andy Cohen has now also added major fuel to the long-running rumours of a major rift between the two pop stars.

Writing in his explosive new book, Cohen says he bumped into Taylor at the MET Gala bash earlier this year and cracked a joke about the Roar singer.

"Why I felt I needed to get involved I will never know (maybe I was auditioning for her squad?) but I innocently said exactly the wrong thing to her, which was, 'Your friend Katy is sitting in the corner and there's plenty of room around her,'" he writes.

Swift then fried back, "Katy who?"

"I said, 'Perry,' at which point she clearly let me know that she's the exact opposite of her friend," he continues.

Cohen says the singer asked him to not mention the exchange on his chat show.

However, he adds, "She didn't threaten me about putting it in my book, so here we are."

Meanwhile, the Love Story star is believed to writing new material about her ex boyfriends Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston.

The Shake It Off singer - who is famous for penning tracks about her former flames - is said to be working on songs for her upcoming sixth studio album, and she could have taken inspiration from her two most recent romances.

According to E! News, a source said while the tunes might not make the final cut, Taylor has been influenced by her recent splits.

However, fans hoping for something scathing in the vein of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together or Bad Blood may be disappointed.

The insider explained that Taylor has stayed on good terms with the actor, and Scottish DJ (whose real name is Adam Wiles).

"[Taylor] has spoken to Adam on text," the source said, adding that the conversation has been more "friendly" than wanting to get back together.

"She is also on good terms with Tom at this point."
