Olympic gold medallist Charlotte Caslick's older brother Sam is among five players set to make their Rugby Sevens World Series debuts for Australia in the opening event in Dubai.

Utility back Caslick is joined by fellow newcomers Michael Adams, Simon Kennewell, Charlie Taylor and Tim Anstee in coach Andy Friend's 13-man Australian men's squad for the December 1-3 tournament.

With Lewis Holland still unavailable for selection due to injury, Sam Meyers has been named captain for the tournament.

Friend is working to regenerate the squad following the Rio Olympics campaign.

"This is an exciting period for this young group of guys after an intense pre-season," Friend said.

"This group is showing real potential with a lot of young players really putting their hand up for future opportunities."

Australian squad: Sam Myers (capt), Ed Jenkins, Michael Adams, Connor Mitchell, Boyd Killingworth, Alex Gibbon, Simon Kennewell, Patrick McCutcheon, Samuel Caslick, Henry Hutchison, James Stannard, Charlie Taylor, Tim Anstee.
