The temporary closure of Ardent Leisure's Dreamworld and Whitewater World theme parks in the wake of the October accident that killed four people will cost the company more than $13 million.

Ardent says it expects operating costs of between $4 million and $4.2 million, one-off costs of $1.6 million and the total loss of November revenue, which in 2015 was $7.6 million.

Ardent, which says the parks will reopen on December 10, said in a statement it will release further trading updates over the rest of the financial year.
