As third divorce looms, newly single Drew Barrymore signs on for a new dating show with Ellen DeGeneres

The actress has signed on to narrate a new dating show being produced by Hollywood pal Ellen DeGeneres.

Based on the popular British TV show of the same name, will follow first time meetings between couples at a restaurant in Chicago, with participants revealing whether they'd like to see their dinner dates again at the end of each episode.

Perhaps this is Drew's way of doing research for what's sure to be some upcoming first dates of her own. The 41-year-old split from her third husband, and father of her two daughters, in March after feeling the marital strain for a while.

"I had a really hard time a couple of months ago and kind of knew life was heading in a new direction," she told Pop Sugar.

On the advice of a trusted friend, she simply "put one foot in front of the other," while coping with the split.

It looks like those words of wisdom have also influenced Drew's professional life. The long-time movie star is building some serious career momentum in TV this year, with upcoming roles in in Bravo series , Netflix rom-com . She's also negotiating a development deal with MTV, which will allow her to executive-produce a coming-of-age series called .

Eight episodes of  have been green-lit by NBC, with filming starting in July.

Let's hope it's more successful than her first date with Christian Bale:
