The ASX has cancelled transactions made within a 43 second window ahead of the delayed start of trading on the Australian share market.

Exchange operator ASX had to delay the pre-open period of the ASX - where brokers can place orders ahead of the start of normal trade - until 11:10 AEST on Monday due to a technical issue.

The ASX later said that all transactions made between 11:10:53 AEST and 11:11:36 AEST would be cancelled due to an operational error.

"The transactions between these times are the only transactions that will be cancelled," the ASX said in a statement.

The staggered market opening was continuing at 1245 AEST on Monday, almost three hours after it was due to start, with the group of shares with names starting with letters N to R due to open trading at 1320 AEST.
