Australia and China have agreed to remove restrictions on air services between the two countries, a move which will boost trade and tourism.

"These new arrangements will remove all capacity restrictions between Australia and China for each country's airline which is an important enabler for increased trade and tourism," Transport Minister Darren Chester said in a statement on Sunday.

Trade Minister Steven Ciobo said the Chinese outbound tourism market is predicted to double to over 200 million travellers annually by 2020 and this agreement will help Australia snare a larger slice of that market creating more Australian jobs and economic growth.
