Australia A have the upper hand after the opening day of their four-day match against India A at Brisbane's Allan Border Field.

India A won the toss on Thursday and chose to bat, making a strong start in reaching 3-188 before being bowled out for 230.

Australia A are 0-25 at stumps with openers Cameron Bancroft not out 10 and Joe Burns on 12.

Queensland spinner Mitch Swepson was the pick of the Australia A bowlers, taking 4-78 from 21 overs.

Western Australia's David Moody, the youngest member of the A squad, took 3-26 from 12 overs, while South Australia's Chadd Sayers finished with 2-41. Recent Australia ODI call-up Daniel Worrall took one wicket.

Manish Pandey was India A's top scorer with 77, before Sayers took his wicket with the first ball of the final session.
