AUSTRALIA V PAKISTAN SECOND TEST DAY ONE

Score: Pakistan 4-142 before rain forced play to be abandoned.

Man of the moment: Nathan Lyon. The MCG crowd rose as one during the third ball of Lyon's first over, thanks to a well-planned social media campaign, and opener Sami Aslam edged the delivery to Steve Smith at first slip. It couldn't have been scripted better.

Key moment: Nic Maddinson takes a screamer at short leg off the bowling of Jackson Bird to dismiss Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq for 11 and leave the visitors in big trouble at 4-125.

Stat of the day: 95 - The amount of balls faced by Azhar Ali before his first boundary in the 35th over.

Summary: The visitors made a promising, albeit slow, start but lost key wickets before the day's play was washed out. There's still potential for Pakistan to make a decent score, especially with Azhar at the crease, but another failure from veterans Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan is real cause for concern.

Quote of the day: "We back them massively in the dressing room. They'll decide when they think the time is right (to retire)." - Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur defends out-of-form veterans Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan.
