Rio silver medallists Mat Belcher and Will Ryan have gone one better in Melbourne, winning the men's 470 event at sailing's last World Cup round.

Australians won two gold medals and two silvers on the final day of SWC Melbourne 2016, the final event on the World Cup circuit.

In the Finn class, Rio Olympian Jake Lilley continued his strong form, winning Sunday's medal race to take gold at the event.

"Today was a fantastic sailing day," Lilley said.

"We had a nice sea breeze of around 15 knots, good waves and an amazing crowd watching us off the beach.

"I had a good start but it was pretty tight up the first beat. My first downwind wasn't the best, but I managed to round the mark in first place and I extended my lead from there."

In the 470 women's event, Australia's Rio Olympics crew of Carrie Smith and Jaime Ryan took silver, beaten home by the Austrian team of Lara Vadlau and Jolanta Ogar.

In the Laser class, Australia's Matt Wearn took Australia's other silver medal, Cypriot Pavlos Kontides claiming the gold.
