Upset Brisbane radio personality Robin Bailey has been "blindsided and ambushed" by what she's labelled a disrespectful decision to axe her from her long-time 97.3 breakfast show.

After 10 years as the headline act on the high-rating morning Robin, Terry and Bob program, Bailey was on Monday given notice by the Australian Radio Network.

ARN has said they had worked hard to come to terms with the veteran presenter but her contract wouldn't be renewed for 2017.

However, Bailey says she was "ambushed" when told of the decision on Monday morning and at no stage did the network make any offer for 2017.

"I have been blindsided," she said in a statement.

"After minimal feedback during a protracted negotiation period at no stage did ARN make me any offer for 2017.

"This was not a joint decision and I certainly saw my future with 97.3, a place that has been my home and my solace for so many years."

Bailey's husband Tony Smart took his own life in September 2014 after a battle with depression.

The mother-of-three received an outpouring of public support when she returned to work later that year.

Bailey thanked her audience for their support on Monday afternoon and vowed to return to the airwaves.

"I love radio and I have loved my 10 years on air at 97.3FM," she said.

"It was not only a job for me, it has been my home, my family and you the listeners have been my friends and supporters in the good times and the bad.

"After such a long and positive relationship at 97.3 I would have anticipated a more respectful approach to my departure."
