Baird, Shorten at welfare conference

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten and NSW Premier Mike Baird will discuss inequality and welfare at a conference organised by the peak welfare body.

Both are expected at the Australian Council of Social Service's national conference in Sydney on Thursday.

The two-day conference will tackle issues such as healthcare, a basic income, education and inequality.

Social Services Minister Christian Porter, Greens leader Richard Di Natale and Human Rights Commission president Gillian Triggs will address the conference on Friday.
