A member of the Rebels bikie gang has been charged over a road rage incident in Darwin, with police alleging he rammed his car into the back of a motorbike and then threatened the rider with a pole.

The 44-year-old was arrested on Tuesday over the September 15 incident, and charged with assault with an offensive weapon, reckless driving, and failing to report a crash.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Stringer says police believe the attack was unprovoked.
