Police have arrested an alleged bikie associate over the brutal bashing of a bus driver at Surfers Paradise.

Police say the 29-year-old man and another man, believed to be a patched member of the Commanchero bikie gang, punched the bus driver after he had approached them for parking illegally in a bus zone on August 21.

When the bus driver attempted to call police the two men allegedly continued their attack on him, punching and kicking him.

"This is another example of the violent nature of members and associates of members of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs. Taskforce Maxima is committed to investigating these criminal gangs to improve the safety of the community," Detective Inspector Phillip Stevens of Taskforce Maxima said about the arrests.

The man is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on September 12 and police investigations are continuing.
