Australia's former IBF junior welterweight boxing champion Lovemore Ndou has decided to use his 45th birthday to announce his retirement from the ring.

Ndou (49-13-2, 31 KOs) held the world title in 2007 and hasn't fought since 2012.

He has decided against having one last fight in South Africa, where he was born.

Renowned for his iron chin, Ndou was never stopped and fought several top-class fighters including Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, Paul Malignaggi, Sharmba Mitchell and Kell Brook.
