A three-year-old boy has died while his brother and father are in hospital after the car they were in crashed into a tree on a rural road on the NSW/Victorian border.

The brothers, aged three and four, were treated at the scene by emergency services after the crash near Lake Mulwala, 100km west of Albury, on Sunday afternoon, but the three-year-old died at the scene, police said

The four-year-old is in Albury Hospital in a serious but stable condition while the 40-year-old father has been airlifted to Melbourne Hospital for treatment.

There were two other fatalities on NSW roads on Sunday with a man in his 20s dying in a two-vehicle crash at Gunning near Goulburn at around 5pm, while earlier in the day a Sydney man aged in his 50s died when his motorcycle hit a tree at Bell near Lithgow in the Blue Mountains.
