An off-duty Tasmanian police officer who disarmed a violent offender and shielded the victim from attack will be awarded a Commissioner's Commendation.

Constable Anna Seymour will be one of 195 police officers who will be presented with awards at a special ceremony in Hobart on Friday.

Three detectives involved in a successful five year investigation into the 1969 disappearance of Lucile Butterworth will also be commended, as will First Class Constable Shane Tilley who rescued an unconscious man from a burning caravan last year.
