Brewer contemplates move away from soaps

Soaps might be Ashleigh Brewer's bread and butter but the Australian actress is getting itchy feet.

The Bold and the Beautiful starlet is contemplating her options as her three-year contract comes to a close in May and says a move back to Australia is possible.

"I'd never say no to work here and working on projects here because I think good stuff is coming out of Australia always," she told AAP at the Melburne Cup Carnival on Saturday.

Brewer's big break came after an apprenticeship served on Neighbours.

She landed in Hollywood in 2014 after being cast in the long-running and hugely popular The Bold.

This year on the show has been a quieter one for her than the first two, meaning she's had time to try new things.

"I've been able to get away and audition," she says.

"I've been working my butt off like a crazy person trying to get a few things off the ground."

Most importantly, Brewer is eying the fickle but potentially career-defining pilot season in the US.

"The pilot season coming will be my first official pilot season," she says.

"I've got a clean slate and I've got new representation over there.

"So next year will be the first year I'm really just out on my own. We'll see what happens."

Brewer has also secured new representation to keep her Australian options open.

Looking back on her time spent on The Bold, she says she only has high praise.

"I love working that hard and fast," she said.

Brewer made her second appearance at the Birdcage Marquees on Saturday for Stakes Day.
