A lawyer who allegedly assaulted a Brisbane barrister over a neighbourhood noise dispute has appeared in court.

Robert Mark Hynes, 47, was charged with grievous bodily harm after he allegedly bashed his neighbour Peter Nolan one night last month in Ascot after Mr Nolan had reprimanded his children for being loud, The Courier Mail reported.

Hynes appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning, where his matter was adjourned to October 31.
