On Saturday, viewers and the judges alike were wowed by the "nervous" schoolgirl after she impressively belted out Defying Gravity from the West End musical Wicked.

Prior to her audition, Beau's mother claimed that it was "a really big deal" for her daughter to get up on stage and perform in front of a crowd.

However, this morning, it has emerged that the timid youngster is in fact a stage school pro - according to the Daily Star.

A far cry from the picture painted last weekend, Beau has trained at the prestigious Stage Pro Academy in Warrington once a month for the last four years and has also won several talent shows - including Halton’s Got Talent.

With that in mind, did Britain's Got Talent bosses dupe viewers by keeping the schoolgirl's training secret?

Judging by the reaction on Twitter, apparently not.

Lynsey Spence commented: "A tabloid says Beau from BGT's a cheat because she's at stage school. Of course she is, and most of us couldn't care less about it!"

Amy Cartledge then commented: " Beau was in a performing arts school, would you be if you had that voice? Pretty sure everyone trains for BGT in some way (cont).

"cont) so why pick on her? She's 12, not an international superstar as of yet so she has every right to enter BGT @BeauDermott."

A Britain's Got Talent spokesperson added: "This story is ridiculous. Beau had singing lessons once a month for the past four years at Stage Pro Academy. Just because she has had singing lessons, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t get nervous when performing as was stated on the show.

"Adele, who is the biggest selling artist in the world, suffers from nerves when performing, so it’s not surprising to think that Beau would as well, especially given that she is a 12 year old schoolgirl."

It seems that the bosses behind the West End musical Wicked aren't bothered by Beau's training either.

Apparently, after watching her audition on Saturday, producers have been in touch.

"I've been asked to go and watch @ WickedUK and meet the cast," she tweeted this morning. "But not to perform in it! As if, I'm only 12! I'm so happy and can't wait to go!"

Britain's Got Talent is on ITV, Saturday at 7pm.
